We attended Weapon Course together. Always kept in touch since then. A jovial officer with a great sense of humour.

Last met him 1974 at 4 Ranger Officers Mess. My 'C' company was then attached with 4 Rangers stationed at Oya Camp doing operations under RASCOM.This is the story of this this evergreen Hero who did not get quite get the honour he actually deserved while in service.

The ambush of 7 Rangers is a great lesson that had been learnt.
The fight back and follow-up Operations by 7 Rangers was commendable. Intelligence played its part.
Sabdin Ghani was a hero, he had taken risks and done excellently well.
He was a man of great resourcefulness and one full of initiatives. Baldev described Sabdin’s character as what he was.
We were poker-playing mates during promotion examinations time, taking exams was secondary.

Commissioned on 10th April 1970 from RMC into the Regular Service. Joined 3 Rangers in Taiping and served various appointments from Pl Comd, Aslt Pnr Comd, Adjutant, Company Comd.
Attended the Mortar course in Sydney in 1971. Posted to RMC as Instructor in 1978 and back to 3 Rangers after two years and seved as OC, later as the Bn 2 1/C, Posted to LATEDA in 1981 as DS in the SD Wing, then moved to Doctrine Cell, MTAT.
Attended the Staff course in AFSC (MTAT). Served in the War Game Team after that and attended thePhilippine Staff College (CGSC), in Manila. Joined 6 Rangers, Ipoh for two years before moving to Army Training Dept, Mindef in 1988. Retired from the MAF in Oct 1990.
Since 1990, he has served in various companies as Sales Manager, Business Development Manager and Safety Trainer & Consultant before establishing my own company dealing in safey products, safety training and engineering services.

Left to right :Major Md Din Abu, WO 2 Nazaruddin("RQ Tiger"),Sgt Jack Minan and WO 2 Abdul Rahman (late) He is the first RQMS when 7th Rangers converted to Mechanized Infantry and he is damned proud of that. Thus becoming the the first RQMS for 7th Rangers (Mechanized). He was also called "RQ Tiger" by one of the Commanding Officer's of 7th Mech, it will be a crime not to mention the CO, he's Lt Col Zulkapli Abdul Rahman. Nazar served in 7 Rangers from 16th Dec 1989 until April 1994 as RQMS 1, under 3 COs. Apart from Lt Col Zul, they were Lt Col Harbhajan Singh who has since retired and Lt Col Mukhtar, currently the Deputy Director of Infantry. He was involved with the trooping of the Ranger Colors by the King in 1992 in Ipoh, Perak.

Kol Muhd Mukhtar bin Ibrahim, (410914) was born on 17 Aug 1951 in Yan, Kedah. Entered the Service as an officer cadet on 15 Dec 1970 (SSC 19). Commissioned into the Royal Ranger Regiment on 15 Dec 1972 (Regular 15). Married to Puan Haminah bt Hassan and blessed with 2 girls and 2 boys. Elevated as a grand father now, having a 2-year old grand daughter and another one on the way.
